The department has a designated liver clinic providing care for HBV and HCV co-infected patients and a small number of mono-infected patients. It is the largest treatment centre for HIV/HCV co-infected patients in the country.
The Department of Genitourinary Medicine and Infectious Diseases (GUIDE) is the largest centre for HIV/AIDs healthcare in Ireland and cares for ~60% of all HIV-positive patients in Ireland.
It is home to several national services including the National Pharmaco-Economics Centre, the National MRSA and TB Reference Laboratories along with other key national centres of knowledge and healthcare service.
